What does the abrasion test mean?
The Martindale test measures a fabric's resistance to abrasion: the fabric is subjected to repeated friction, and the result is expressed in "cycles." The more cycles, the greater the resistance to wear and tear from daily use (for example, from sitting, resting an arm on the fabric, or contact with clothing). As a guideline, 20,000 cycles or more is generally considered suitable for frequent household use, and above 30,000 cycles offers extra durability in high-traffic areas.
